Tents for Troops, an organization that has persuaded owners of about 200 RV parks and campgrounds to offer free camping to military personnel, is urging President Obama to adopt a similar program for federal lands.
A petition asking the president to issue an executive order to give active-duty personnel free camping at national parks and other federal sites will be posted throughout April at whitehouse.gov/petitions. You can sign the petition by logging onto the website.

The RV industry’s chief sales forecaster has revised his prediction for wholesale RV shipments upward to 265,200 units this year, which would be a 5.1 percent increase over 2011.
Dr. Richard Curtin, who provides RV shipment forecasts for the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, predicted last fall that shipments would decline slightly in 2012. But improving economic conditions prompted a new assessment.
