After a fairly long day on the road my wife and I were looking forward to getting off for the evening. We were even “treating” ourselves to a campground with water and electric after days of camping in the boondocks. Our choice of campground was Church Hill County Fairgrounds in Fallon, NV as it was reasonably priced, contained grassy sites and was right off our route. As we turned the corner to access the fairgrounds we were greeted by a sign listing the current and forthcoming events. Heading the list was “Redneck Shindig”!
I thought that was rather funny until I saw the date, which was for the day we were staying!! Even more disconcerting was the fact that the event contained a large stage complete with a sound system that was located just a couple hundred feet from the camping area. Being serenaded by redneck music late into the evening was not my idea of a peaceful night of camping. Maybe we should head back to the boonies for the evening. Luckily the event was winding down. After setting up camp we went over and strolled through the vendor booths at the shindig immersing ourselves in redneck culture! Sadly, they were out of possum pie! Rubbing elbows with rednecks, just another adventure in RVing!
