I was making my annual visit to the vet to get the dogs’ shots done for the upcoming year. In through the door came a sweet little lady dragging a very reluctant lab behind her. The dog was obviously pretty smart (my vet says he can tell a smart dog; they hate coming in to see him!), and looked to be in good shape. But all the white in his muzzle suggested that he was getting a bit long in the tooth.
Turns out, as usual, I was way wrong. The poor black lab was only a year old; the white hairs that graced his sad little face were there courtesy of his visit with a porcupine that was touring through his neighborhood.
