Dmitri Sorokovski started out four years ago with the intention of merely restoring an Airstream trailer for his own use, but he enjoyed doing it so much that he now owns the Airstream dealership in Salt Lake City and a business supplying Airstream parts worldwide.
How Sorokovski became the owner of Intermountain Airstream and its parts division, Silver Trailer Supply, is an interesting story. Seventeen years ago, he was practicing law in Moscow when he decided at the age of 30 to come to Seattle in search of better opportunities. He spoke little English and would have had to go to law school here to continue in the legal profession. That held no appeal, and besides, he needed to work on his English, so for five years he took jobs in construction.
A new owner has undertaken a major renovation of the Smokiam RV Resort at Soap Lake in Eastern Washington with the goal of making it a major destination for relaxation and recreation.
Brad Ellis acquired the property in June and although the 16-acre park needed many improvements, it has always had the advantage of a superb location with 900 feet of beachfront on Soap Lake, which is renowned for its mineral-rich water.
