Monty and Susan Scales have been named winners of the Good Sam 2009 RVer of the Year Award for their work on hurricane relief in the Gulf Coast Region. They will receive the award at The Rally 2010, which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, July 22-25.

The couple, originally from Bloomington, Indiana, left well-paying construction jobs in 2005, borrowed a trailer and drove south to aid in the recovery from Hurricane Katrina. Since then, living in a fifth wheel trailer, they have helped hurricane victims in Texas and flood victims in Indiana.  They have worked with church groups and other organizations to organize teams of volunteers to rebuild, repair and remodel homes of homeowners in need of assistance.
