{mosimage}Livin’ Lite developed the trailer from a design created by an Arkansas man, Tom Brawley, who built the prototype in his garage.  Brawley came up with the concept of soft-sided tip-out bunks on a cargo trailer and took the prototype to an RV dealer in Conway, Arkansas. The dealer was so impressed that he suggested Brawley patent the design and put him in touch with Scott Tuttle, president of Livin’ Lite Recreational Vehicles in Wakarusa, Indiana.

Livin’ Lite, which specializes in lightweight, back-to-basics trailers, transformed the steel and plywood prototype into a light, aerodynamic trailer that can be hauled by cars and SUVs.

{mosgoogle left}The trailer is available in various sizes. The smallest model, the VRV 5x8, has an overall width of seven feet and length of 12 and a half feet and an interior height of six feet, five inches. Dry weight with one tip-out bunk is less than 1,200 pounds.  Move up to the 7x16 model and you get tip-out bunks on both sides of the trailer, a generator compartment, cabinets, closets, and a private commode room where you can add an optional portable toilet.  The weight is still low—2,100 pounds. The even larger 8.5x22 model adds a fold-up sofa and a dinette and has a dry weight listed at 2,550 pounds. Prices range from $6,000 to more than $14,000.

{mosimage}The trailer achieves it light weight through all-aluminum construction, which means that not only is the frame aluminum, but so are the sidewalls, custom fenders, floor decking, and even the cabinetry.

The VRV Quicksilver is available in multiple colors and comes with diamond plate accents, D-rings in the floor and an optional E-track tie-down system for securing vehicles.
