{mosimage}Arne Wolfe, who designed the trailer, said it can haul about 1,000 pounds and be towed by almost any car. It is an alternative way of hauling large, bulky items for people who don’t have a pickup truck or SUV, and don’t want to buy a regular trailer because they don’t have a place to store it.
{mosgoogle left}With the Tow-N-Stow, you don’t have that problem because two people can convert the vehicle into an attractive upright storage unit in about a minute. The tires and axle swing into a recessed floor. Shelves can be put in place after the unit is in the upright position. The trailer has nearly 50 cubic feet of cargo or storage capacity and is lockable and watertight.
{mosimage}The trailer substructure is made of steel and composites that reinforce an outer shell of lightweight polymer. The chassis employs a load-dampening torsion axle and steel substructure that is produced at Lippert’s manufacturing plants. The company makes steel chassis, slideouts, axles and other components for the RV and manufactured housing industries.
Lippert, a subsidiary of Drew Industries, plans to sell the trailer through retailers, including home improvement and sporting goods stores. Retail price is about $2,500.
{mosimage}The Tow-N-Stow was a recipient in May of a Retailers Choice Award at the North American Retail Hardware Association show in Las Vegas. The award is given each year to about 25 to 30 products selected from the offerings of thousands of exhibitors.
