Daily air shows, exhibits of military equipment, an appearance by an astronaut, nightly movies, and airplane and helicopter rides are all part of the Arlington Fly-In July 8-12 at the Arlington Municipal Airport in Washington.

RV camping is available at the five-day event at the airport owned by the city of Arlington, 45 miles north of Seattle.

Rides will be offered on a 1930 New Standard biplane, which holds four adult passengers in the front cockpit, and on the Pacific Prowler, one of the few remaining B-25 bombers built for World War II.

The Cascade Warbirds, a squadron that flies vintage military aircraft, will present a flying demonstration on Sunday, July 12, to kick off Veterans Appreciation Day.

Air shows are scheduled each afternoon. Many types of aircraft will be on display, and there will be many exhibits and forums related to aviation.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration will be represented with space exploration exhibits and interactive displays.  Astronaut Anna L. Fisher, a medical doctor who was a mission specialist on the second flight of the orbiter Discovery, will make a guest appearance on Wednesday, July 8.

More than 100 vehicles from World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars will be on display, and members of the Puget Sound Military Vehicle Collectors Club will be on hand to explain the equipment’s history and purpose.  A traveling military history museum will show everything from small arms weapons to mortars and rocket launchers.

Other attractions will include a downtown street fair, a crafts tent, food booths, a children’s entertainment area and a large remote-control airplane display with simulators. A hot air balloon glow will be on view at dusk Saturday in a program that will also include a performance by a jazz band.

Family movies will be shown each night on a big outdoor movie screen.
