MVP RV, which builds motorhomes and travel trailers in Riverside, California, has announced plans to partner with Winston Global Energy to build and export thousands of motorhomes to China.
Under the plan, Winston would inject $310 million into MVP RV. In addition Winston Battery Limited would provide capital for the development of all-electric recreation vehicles and charging systems.
Plans call for exporting 10,000 Class A and 20,000 Class C motorhomes to China in the next three to four years. MVP RV estimates the value of the exports to exceed $5 billion. Employment at the company’s plant could rise from 150 to 1,400.
The agreement was one of a number of trade deals announced when Chinese President Hu Jintao met with President Barack Obama on January 19.
