Erwin Hymer Group (EHG), Europe’s largest motorhome and caravan manufacturers, with Industrial Opportunity Partners, LLC – a capital investment fund in Illinois – have recently acquired all shares of Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc.
According to a release, the acquisition also includes the U.S. subsidiary, Roadtrek Motorhomes USA and after the closing date (as of February 24), the company’s name will change to Erwin Hymer Group North America, Inc.
“The strategic acquisition of Roadtrek allows Erwin Hymer Group to enter the world’s largest RV market – the U.S. and Canada – as the first European manufacturer of motorhomes and caravans,” says Martin Brandt, Chairman of the Board of Erwin Hymer Group AG & Co. KG. “With the acquisition of Roadtrek, we pursue our sustainable international strategy of growth. This acquisition is characterized by a spirit of partnership. We happily welcome Roadtrek’s employees to Erwin Hymer Group.”
Roadtrek is a Canadian manufacturer of Class B motorhomes that employs a staff of 300 in two production facilities in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Following the acquisition, Jim Hammill, formerly the CEO of Roadtrek Motorhomes, Inc. will become the president and CEO.
According to EHG North America, the acquisition provides a perfect starting point to introduce EHG’s additional brands into the U.S. market and the company will rely on the existing Roadtrek Motorhomes` management to introduce further EHG brands. The first introduction is the company`s HymerCar caravan line scheduled to be released this Summer.
Erwin Hymer Group is Europe’s largest manufacturer of motorhomes and caravans. The group sells more than 35,000 vehicles annually and employs a staff of some 4,400 in its associated companies.
