The company said the move is a response to an industrywide decline in motorhome sales. Industry estimates are that manufacturers will ship 40,400 motorhomes to dealers this year, a decline of 42 percent from the peak year of 2004. Winnebago’s Charles City Manufacturing Facility opened in 2004. Its closure does not affect Winnebago’s Charles City Assembly Facility, which produces the company’s new Class B motorhomes.
