If you have been following my blogs over the past couple of years and reading my articles in RV Life, by now you have figured out that I enjoy adventuring in out of the way forgotten places. The farther removed from crowds the better. So why am I blogging about a bookstore in downtown Placerville, California this week? Well to find those out of the way forgotten places, you have to find those unique places where there is obscure reference material that has not been published in every guide and travel book across the country. By checking out their local history section you are likely to discover a plethora of books by local authors that have never received recognition outside of their community. These books often list abandoned mining camps, unique geological formations, forlorn cemeteries, old campsites, etc. Not only does The Bookery in Placerville have a unique selection of books, but the shop itself is unique and qualifies as an adventure. There you will find books stacked from floor to ceiling forming a maze to explore. Just when you think you have seen it all, you will find more books stacked in an alcove or adjoining room. Be sure to check out The Bookery next time you find yourself RVing down highway 49 or 50 through the heart of the California Mother Lode. Oh, don’t forget your string or bread crumbs so you can find your way back out of the shop when you are done exploring. “Getting lost in a book” gains new meaning after visiting The Bookery!
You will find The Bookery at:
