A friend recently discovered my blog and while he enjoyed it, he was disappointed that I didn’t share where more of the locations I blog about are located. While some of my favorite places to explore and/or boondock I will carry to my grave, there are others that I am willing to share. One such location is Henderson Flats OHV Area just off Hwy 97 between Redmond and Madras, Oregon. The area offers great spots to boondock with some “spaces” offering picnic tables and fire rings. Views of the Cascades and the Three Sisters abound throughout the area. Of course, the free price tag fits my budget too! If you include geocaching in your RVing adventures, there are a number of them to find during your stay. Don’t have an off highway vehicle with you, not to worry as the trails are open to horses, mountain bikes and hikers too. The area also makes a great base camp while you explore the surrounding points of interest. Nearby you will find Peter Skene Ogden State Scenic Viewpoint http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_50.php and Smith Rock State Park http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_51.php to explore. For more information on Henderson Flat OHV along with instructions on how to get there visit: http://atvsource.com/articles/articles/2010/022511-places-to-ride-henderson-flat-ohv-trail-near-redmond-oregon.htm
Be sure and stop by Henderson Flats on your next RVing journey through central Oregon. If you enjoy boondocking there tell a fellow RVer. If you don’t, blame my friend for making me tell!
