I remember the days when a flooring job meant taking out the old carpet and installing new carpet. How the times have changed! These days most of our customers want “anything but carpet” and the most popular choice seems to be laminate flooring. Many of the newer coaches now have flat floor slide outs. Usually they have a bound edge on the carpet that just rest’s on the main floor once the slide has gone out and dropped down. If a customer wants laminate installed on the slide, a subfloor must installed over the slide floor- extending out to where the original bound carpet edge was. Then the laminate can be installed and trimmed out with a matching bullnosed stair edging slightly modified. The end result is a three quarter inch step up to the slide out. Most customers dont mind the slight step up if the end result is no carpet on the slide. We have done this dozens of times, and below are some photos of a recent installation.
