Elizabeth Peacock of El Cajon, California, has won a half-carat Polar Ice Diamond, valued at $9,000, as winner of the “Diamonds in the Rough” contest that encourages visitors to drive the Deh Cho Travel Connection, a scenic route linking the Mackenzie, Liard and Alaska highways in northern Canada. The contest will be held again this year, from May 15 to September 1, with a diamond as the grand prize. Entrants must travel the route and get a “passport” signed at various locations.
