We were recently in the process of selling a fairly large remodel job to a customer, and they asked if we could install an electric fireplace in the lower portion of their dash.
We learned long ago to not say no without giving a customers idea a fair chance. So after a bit of searching online, I was suprised to find a unit that was small enough to fit the space.
We took the lower dash unit, that originally had two small drawers and enlarged the opening to fit the firplace. The upper fiberglass portion that contained the cup holders also had to be cut out to allow space for the unit.
Conveniently a 110 outlet had been installed by the factory, so power did not have to be ran to the area. The unit although only 18" wide had a nice look and actually put out a fair amount of heat as well.
We are currently developing a wall mount cabinet that will have a 30" fireplace in the front, with a 32" flat screen on a power lift that will raise up from behind the fireplace.
