Quadra Island, a short ferry boat ride from Vancouver Island, is a unique setting that features a unique nine-hole golf course, Quadra Golf Club. Quadra Island is the largest and most populous of the Discovery Islands, an archipelago of a dozen islands located between Campbell River on Vancouver Island and mainland British Columbia.
After several years of planning and down-to-earth hard work, Quadra Golf Club’s first nine holes and 240-yard driving range are open for play. The course is conveniently located just a few minutes’ drive from the Campbell River ferry terminal in Quathiaski Cove. The setting is simply stunning overlooking the Salish Sea and the snow-capped mountains on the mainland. There are few courses throughout British Columbia that offer picturesque views like Quadra Golf Club.
At 3,219 yards from the blue tees, this par 36 professionally-designed course provides an enjoyable challenge for beginners and seasoned players alike. The course fits into the natural landscape and features a challenging and rewarding mix of par 3, par 4, and par 5 holes. The fifth hole, for example, is a par 5 and the number one handicap. The hole is uphill with 135 feet of elevation change. The last 100 yards is a dog-leg left, so be sure your second shot is on the right side of the fairway. While leaving the green, linger for a moment and appreciate the view.
The finishing hole is also the course signature hole. This deceiving, 190-yard par 3 requires all of 160 yards needed to carry and clear the deep pond; a great way to end the round.
