The Panamint Valley in California contains numerous areas for an adventurous RVer to explore. In addition, there are endless spots for a boondocker to set up camp with miles between you and the next living soul. However, that can literally change in the blink of an eye. You see, the brave men and women of the United States Air Force stationed nearby at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake practice their low altitude flying maneuvers in the Panamint Valley. One minute you are alone in the desert and the next minute you have a visitor 100 ft. over your RV cruising by at 500 miles per hour! The most startling part is you never hear them coming, just "bam" and they are there and then gone. I am sure I saw one of the pilots smiling as I fell out of my lawn chair. He was that close. Thankfully, I don't have a target painted on the roof of my RV that states, "Osama Bin Laden lives here"!
A big "thank you" to all those that serve in the armed forces.
