Grand Sierra Reopens RV Park
The KOA at the Reno Hilton is now the RV Park at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, offering access to the hotel’s new restaurants, expanded entertainment and many new features.
The Hilton hotel became the Grand Sierra Resort a year ago. The new owners closed the adjoining KOA park at the end of February, intending to use the site for the construction of residential towers. However, those plans were delayed, and the RV park reopened without the KOA affiliation on May 1, and will remain open for two years.
The park has 178 campsites. Full hookups, with either 50-amp or 30-amp service, are available, along with pull-through sites that can accommodate big rigs.
RVers have access to the hotel pool and many other amenities at the resort, which has Nevada’s largest casino north of Las Vegas. The resort includes retail shops, a movie theater, a 50-lane bowling center, and a golf driving range. Construction is scheduled to start this fall on America’s largest indoor water park.
The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino recently announced a partnership with the lifestyle brand Nikki Beach to design and manage entertainment venues. Nikki Beach at Poolside, currently under construction, will feature beach volleyball, a swim-up bar, cocktail service and nightly entertainment. Nikki Beach is also turning the venue previously known as “The Garage” into what it promises will be “Reno’s sexiest nightclub.”
Dolce Enoteca e Ristorante, which serves Italian cuisine, opened recently and new restaurants created by chef Charlie Palmer are scheduled to open this month.
The new Crystal Lounge has replaced the old Aspen Lounge and now offers nightly entertainment. A new wine bar called Reserve is being constructed. Reserve will feature enomatic dispensers for individual wine tasting. There will be 10 enomatic units, which hold eight bottles each. A sommelier will be on staff to introduce, educate and assist in the wine-tasting experience.
The Fun Quest Arcade and Family Fun Center has been renovated with new games, bumper cars, a nine-hole miniature golf course and a climbing structure, called Spider Mountain, for younger guests.
