The National Wildlife Federation is sponsoring the Great American Backyard Campout on June 22 to encourage families to spend the night under the stars, camped out in a park or backyard. The event is part of an effort urging children to play outside and connect with nature. The federation has created a website, backyardcampout.org, where you can find nocturnal wildlife guides, recipes, packing lists, nature games and a list of campout groups you can join.
