New boating facilities for whitewater rafting and kayaking have opened in Nevada on the Carson River Aquatic Trail between Carson City and Dayton. Boaters are now able to put their rafts and kayaks in the water at Morgan Mill Road in Carson City. The facilities include a new concrete launching ramp, paved parking, picnic tables and a rest room. Similar facilities are available to leave the river at Santa Maria Ranch in Dayton.
The Carson River Aquatic Trail has two segments: a 3.3-mile Class 1 float through cottonwood and willow-lined river banks, and a 9.3-mile Class III ride that includes challenging rapids in scenic Carson River Canyon.
