Winnebago Industries sold more motorhomes than any other manufacturer in 2009, but Fleetwood led in sales of the larger, Class A motorhomes, according to figures from Statistical Surveys, a reporting service based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Winnebago reported that it achieved a market share of better than 19 percent in combined Class A and Class C sales. It also led in Class B motorhome sales with a market share of nearly 18 percent.
Fleetwood RV reported that it was the leading seller of Class A motorhomes with more than 18 percent of the market. Fleetwood has been the top Class A brand for 22 of the past 23 years. It held onto that position in 2009 even though Fleetwood Enterprises went bankrupt. A new company, Fleetwood RV, acquired the motorhome business, resumed production, and has continued to honor Fleetwood products under warranty.
Thor Industries remains the overall leader in RV sales, when both motorhomes and travel trailers are combined.Research Campgrounds, Plan RV Safe Routes & Turn your phone into an RV GPS.
