PIAA, a Portland, Oregon, company that makes auxiliary lighting and other automotive products, has introduced a new LED fog lamp kit that it says equals the beam control of a halogen lamp but has the low power consumption and durability associated with LEDs.
The lamp uses two 3-watt LEDs that are aimed at a computer-designed, multi-surface reflector, instead of outward, in order to achieve better beam control. The company says the performance is similar to a halogen lamp, but uses only a fraction of the power.
PIAA 530 LED lamps are designed to fit in many factory car, truck and SUV fog lamp openings. The lamps measure 3.5 inches in diameter, with a 3-inch depth. The lamp kit has a suggested retail price of $279.99. For information, visit piaa.com.
