The U.S. Forest Service has established a website to help people plan trips to view fall colors in the national forests. The site can be found at fs.fed.us/fallcolors/2012/index.shtml.
“Autumn is a wonderful time of the year to plan a trip to see the beauty of your national forests,” said Tom Tidwell, chief of the U.S. Forest Service. “As tree experts, we have incredible resources on our website to help you plan a great adventure this fall season.”
The website includes clickable maps that link to color information in forests and to state tourism and fall color websites. There is also information on scenic drives and trails. The forest service has established a hotline at (800) 354-4595 to provide updates on the best places, dates and routes to find fall colors in national forests.
