General RV Center, the nation’s largest family-owned dealership group, has completed construction of its new store in Wixom, Michigan, and will open its newest dealership in Florida on October 20.
The General RV Super Center in the Tampa suburb of Dover will be the company’s second dealership in Florida and eleventh total. It will occupy 30 acres along Interstate 4 and include an RV service center, parts store and sales showroom.
The new Wixom dealership, which also is the new site of the corporate headquarters, occupies 34 acres of a former Ford plant. It includes an 83,000-square-foot facility with a spacious showroom, parts store and 40 services bays. The corporate offices are on the second floor.
Loren Baidas, General RV’s president and the grandson of the original owner, Abe Baidas, said, “We’re very excited and see this as a huge opportunity for our company, our employees and our customers in these two great markets.” The company operates dealerships in Illinois, Ohio and Utah as well as Florida and Michigan.
