Goodyear has introduced a new tire for pickup trucks that is designed for both highway and off-road driving. The new Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain with Kevlar has a layer of DuPont Kevlar to add toughness for travel over pavement, gravel and dirt and provide superior traction through rain and snow.
The tire includes shoulder blocks in the tread to help clear mud and snow, and has traction ridges to improve traction on soft road surfaces. Biting edges and a rubber compound contribute to traction on wet and icy roads.
The tire went on sale at retail outlets in August and will be available in 44 sizes by the end of the year. Some of the tires, designated as Pro-Grade, are equipped with two layers of Kevlar and a steel belt package and are designed for three-quarter or one-ton light trucks that regularly haul or tow heavy loads.
