Last week I challenged readers to find a "lost" mine using a few clues and Google Earth.
So far, no one has claimed the prize offered.
Let's look at a piece of history in the region of the mine and see if it brings you any closer to the prize. Now pay attention and see if you can solve last week's mystery.
1) To the east of the lost mine, Charles Manson and his gang hid out at a ranch after committing a gruesome crime in the same state.
2) There is a geocache (geocaching.com) named after the ranch.
3) Legend says, the truck Charles Manson drove sits abandoned at a ghost town northwest of the mine. You can view a picture of the truck at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthigh/1832098432/
If you are a snowbird, this entire area offers plenty for the adventurous RVer to see and do. Plus, acres (and I mean acres) of free camping.
