Torklift International has introduced a solar-powered lockable battery box that can keep spare batteries protected and charged. The box can be attached to a trailer tongue or a rear bumper.
Called the PowerArmor Solar, it comes in various lengths to accommodate two to five spare batteries, and has a battery mat to neutralize battery acid and prevent corrosion. The aluminum box also can be used to store towing equipment such as weight distribution bars or level blocks.
The manufacturer says that storing spare batteries in the PowerArmor Solar box will increase battery life up to 400 percent by maintaining the charge. The solar panel can bring batteries back to full charge from a 50 percent charge.
The PowerArmor Solar is backed by a lifetime warranty from Torklift International of Sumner, Washington. The solar panel carries a 25-year warranty from Zamp Solar of Bend, Oregon. Suggested retail prices start at $372.85. For information, visit torklift.com.
