The MHRV (Manufactured Homes and Recreational Vehicles) Association has donated part of the proceeds from two RV shows this year to Washington State Parks, which are suffering from budget cutbacks.
“Owning an RV wouldn’t nearly be as fun if you couldn’t spend time in our state parks—they’re beautiful,” said Dave Helgeson, MHRV show director. “But we’re in danger of losing some of them. In fact over 40 Washington state parks are at risk of closure due to massive budget cuts so we felt we needed to help in some way.”
MHRV donated $7,188 to the parks from shows held in Seattle and Puyallup. The state of Washington has drastically reduced general fund support of its 100-year-old park system and shifted to a user-pay model that has failed to make up for the revenue loss.
