With more than 100 quality golf courses, many designed by legends of the game, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a golfer’s paradise. Many of these championship courses dot the popular Grand Strand, a major tourist attraction featuring more than 60 miles of pristine beaches along with a variety of entertainment, nature, history, and dining options to go along with the fabulous golf opportunities. Here is just a quick sample of courses available in the Myrtle Beach area.
World Tour Golf Links offers golfers the chance to play replicas of the greatest holes and courses from around the world, all on one beautiful layout. Featuring 18 holes that are inspired by golf meccas like Augusta National, Pine Valley, and St. Andrews, World Tour brings the greatest holes in golf history to one special place, and you don’t need a passport to experience. Experience “Amen Corner” where the Masters is held at Augusta, or the finishing hole at Inverness. Golfers can even cross the stone bridge where Arnold Palmer bid the golf world farewell on No. 18 at the 1995 British Open.
Meadowlands Golf Club in Calabash, N.C., a short drive from Myrtle Beach, takes golfers on a trip back in time. Surrounded by old-growth forests and pristine lakes, this former farmland was converted to a top-notch golf course while maintaining its down-home appeal. The scenic vistas alone are worth a sight-seeing visit, but you will want to bring your clubs. Meadowlands earned a place on the Top 100 Women-Friendly Courses by Golf For Women magazine. It is located less than a mile from its sister course, Farmstead, with discounts available for playing both.
Carved from the site of two Carolina Plantations, Willbrook offers a tranquil blend of golf and wildlife. New hybrid champion Bermuda greens were installed in late 2006, making the course even more stunning. Located on the south end of the Grand Strand, and part of the Waccamaw Golf Trail, Willbrook wends through centuries-old oak trees. The course was recently featured on the award-winning television show “Nature Scene,” showcasing its peaceful combination of golf and nature.
