If you can’t get to a NASCAR race, you will soon be able to have a virtual NASCAR experience by camping at a NASCAR RV resort.
Morgan RV Resorts, the nation’s largest private owner and operator of RV parks, and Silver Companies, a real estate and development company, have joined with NASCAR to create the new licensed resort brand. Thirteen campgrounds in eight states will become NASCAR RV Resorts, starting this spring.
The campgrounds will have televised race coverage on jumbo screens, tailgate parties, and access to games, activities and merchandise related to racing. The television coverage of race events will include exclusive content on race weekends that will be available only at a NASCAR RV Resort.
The first resorts to be converted to the new brand are in Florida, Indiana, Maine, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin. The companies hope to add hundreds of additional locations over the next decade.
Blake Davidson, managing director of licensed products for NASCAR, said the rebranded campgrounds are a natural extension of the relationship between stock car racing and RVing. Many people who attend the races arrive in RVs and camp there for the weekend.
“In a sense, NASCAR has been in the camping business for more than 60 years with NASCAR events representing some of the country’s largest campgrounds 38 weeks out of the year,” Davidson said.
Robert J. Moser, the president and CEO of the new NASCAR RV Resorts, said the program offers RV park owners and developers the opportunity to convert existing campgrounds or build new ones with “a unique, one of a kind recreation and entertainment venue that fans and families alike will find exciting. There is no better combination of two more American sports/lifestyles/pastimes than NASCAR and camping.”
