Navistar announced that the new company will be headquartered in Coburg, and said production will resume soon.
{mosgoogle left}Monaco Coach Corporation, which produced motorhomes and travel trailers under the Monaco, Holiday Rambler, Safari, Beaver, McKenzie and R-Vision brand names, closed its plants and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware approved the sale of certain assets to Navistar on May 22.
Navistar International Corporation is a holding company whose subsidiaries produce International trucks, the Workhorse chassis for motorhomes and step vans, diesel engines and buses.
Assets acquired by Navistar include inventory, brands, intellectual property and production facilities in Coburg and Harrisburg, Oregon, and Wakarusa and Milford, Indiana.
Jack Allen, president of Navistar’s North American truck group, said, “Navistar’s entry into the RV business through the purchase of certain Monaco Coach assets fits our strategy of leveraging our assets to expand our diesel business, serve the end customer through robust parts and service, and will complement our Workhorse chassis business.”
He added: “Providing the RV market with the right vehicles at the right time will be Monaco RV’s first order of business. Our management teams will spend these first few weeks ramping up the business at a pace commensurate with demand.”
The new company will not be liable for products sold by Monaco Coach Corporation before the purchase by Navistar, but said its service representatives are available to aid RV owners in obtaining service and support for their vehicles. Owners with questions may call 877-4MONACO for assistance.
