Xanterra, which holds the concession contract at Yellowstone National Park, has begun a $70 million project to improve lodging at the park’s Canyon Village. Two hundred cabins are being removed and will be replaced by five multi-story lodges. The first three lodges will open in 2015 and the others will follow the next year. The lodges, built of stone and wood to blend with their surroundings, will have 409 rooms. The improvement project also will include the creation of new paths for bicyclists and hikers.
