If you have a GM, Ford or Dodge vehicle, you can now buy a padlock that you can lock and unlock with your ignition key.
The Bolt Padlock 2.0 eliminates the need to carry an extra key or memorize combinations. This padlock doesn’t come with a key of its own. Instead, the first time you use the padlock, you insert your vehicle’s ignition key into it so that the lock’s cylinder is uniquely coded to that key.
The manufacturer says the padlock will work with keys for most GM, Ford and Dodge vehicles on the road today. It was created by Strattec Security Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of automotive locks and keys.
“Our Padlock 2.0 product is ideal for recreational activities like four wheeling, jet skiing, racing and even horseback riding because it allows enthusiasts to secure multiple gates, outbuildings and enclosed trailers all with one key,” said Sales Manager Erika Garcia. “Because the Padlock 2.0 uses a vehicle’s ignition key, hobbyists can save valuable time by ensuring they’ll never get to their designation and not be able to unlock and use their gear.”
The suggested retail price on the Bolt Padlock 2.0 is $27.50. For information, visit boltlock.com.
