If pinpoint accuracy for determining shot distance is important, then you may want to consider the new laser The Coolshot 80i and Coolshot 80 VR rangefinders from Nikon.
Featuring Nikon’s vibration reduction (VR) technology, both models can compensate for the human body’s physical inability to be completely still.
Why Two Laser Rangefinders Instead of Just One?
The Coolshot 80i and 80 VR are another means of using technology to improve your game. While the 80i is used exclusively for measuring actual distance, the Coolshot 80i VR adds ID (incline/decline) technology. This displays the slope and adjusted distance (horizontal distance ± height), making it ideal for hilly golf courses.
According to Randy Garrison, Associate General Manager at Nikon Sport Optics, when the ID technology feature is not on, it`s USGA-compliant for tournament use.
Additional Nikon Rangefinder Features Include:
- The range of the models is 8-1,000 yards in .1-yard increments.
- They are ready for use right out of the box.
- The Nikon Locked On technology will indicate the measurement to the distance of the closer target.
- First Target Priority Mode allows for accurate measurements when multiple objects like trees, bushes, or buildings appear in the rangefinder (along with the flag).
- When the laser is on, it will stay active for eight seconds.
- Both are water proof and fog proof.
What’s more, each model offers a 6x high-quality finder. This, according to Nikon, offers bright, clear images, with the measurement result shown in approx. 0.5 seconds. This is due to the original data-processing algorithm called Hyper Read.
Also, the compact designs ensure portability and a comfortable grip for ease of use. Further, the water/fog-proof structure and rainproof battery chamber, ensures durability and reliability whatever the weather.
Other similar laser rangefinders that are available on the market fall into the $200 – $700 price point range and the Nikon Coolshot laser rangefinders are no exception. The Coolshot 80i retails for $449.95 and the Coolshot 80 VR is $399.95.
