Pacific Coachworks has created an innovative outdoor kitchen slideout as an option that can be added to the rear of 10 floor plans for its Tango travel trailers and fifth wheels.
The six-foot wide kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal outdoors. There is a two-burner range and range hood, a sink with hot and cold water, a microwave oven, and a 3.9 cubic-foot refrigerator/freezer, along with cabinets and utility and silverware drawers. There is space, too, for an optional 26-inch LCD TV with a swinging wall mount.
“Live outside the box” is the slogan the company is using to promote the outdoor kitchen slideout. The idea is that the slideout makes it easy for RVing families to spend more time outdoors, even while preparing meals, eating or watching TV.
The outdoor kitchen slideout was received enthusiastically at the National RV Trade Show in December. “The dealer response was great,” said Spenser Kalnin, the company’s marketing administrator. Dealers perceived the kitchen slideout as a unique feature that is sure to catch everyone’s attention.
It’s too early to measure consumer response because production of the first Tango trailers with outdoor kitchens has just begun, but Kalnin said many dealers have placed orders for it.
The slideout adds about 1,200 pounds and 26 inches to the length of the trailer. The outdoor kitchen carries a suggested retail price of $3,600 and is available as an option on Tango trailers and fifth wheels with base MSRPs ranging from $25,274 to $33,319 and lengths ranging from just under 24 feet to a little more than 31 feet.
Kalnin said that because Tango’s outdoor kitchen is a push-button slideout that comes as an addition at the rear of the RV, it doesn’t displace anything. Nothing has to be deducted from the space devoted to the bedroom, bathroom, indoor kitchen and living areas in order to make room for the outdoor kitchen.
The Tango is built by Pacific Coachworks, which was started in Riverside, California, in July 2006 by two veterans of the RV industry, Tom Powell and Dane Found.
