Families who are new to camping can learn how to make the most of their time outdoors by enrolling in the Family Campout Program conducted by Arizona State Parks. Registration is now open for weekend sessions this fall and the spring of 2016.
Trained camp coordinators help families learn to set up a tent, build a fire, cook outdoors and enjoy activities such as hiking, fishing, geocaching and archery. The first session will be Sept. 26-27 at Lyman Lakes State Park. Other sessions are scheduled in October at Lost Dutchman and Kartchner Caverns state parks and in November at Catalina and Homolovi state parks. Other sessions will be held next March, April, May and June. For information, visit AZStateParks.com/family.
