{mosimage}But something amazing happened this summer that reminded me of my first love affair with the first vehicle that gave me mobility—my tricycle. Now this is no ordinary tricycle, mind you. It’s called a Trikke CV—that’s short for a carving vehicle that is chainless and pedal-less. It’s propelled by your body’s motion to rock and roll from side to side, thrusting the Trikke and you forward without having to touch your feet to the ground. Although there are several human-powered models to choose from, the T8Air chassis was the one I felt would be the best all-around carving vehicle for me because it’s versatile and lightweight at 20 pounds.
What’s really exhilarating about the totally fluid motion is the carving effect you feel with each roll of your body. Now I’ve been a downhill snow skier most of my life, and as soon as I started down the road, it felt as though I was carving turns on the slopes and, for me, that’s a real Wow! People stop and stare as I carve my T8Air Trikke through my neighborhood. Virtually no one I’ve talked to has seen anything like it before. It’s the ultimate fun fitness machine for me. My entire body is engaged, using my legs for shock absorption and balancing and using my arms for power thrusts and to hang on for stability.
{mosgoogle left}Not only is it major fun, it’s also a great exercise workout. In fact, my sister-in-law has lost six pounds and my niece has lost ten pounds in just a few weeks of riding their Trikke vehicle every day around an RV resort. They’re very excited about all the health benefits they’ve been receiving while having fun together.
The only problem I’ve had with it so far is that when it’s time to turn around and go back home up a small hill, it’s a little challenging. Going down a slight grade or on the flats is no problem at all. However, I was confident I would hone the skills needed to propel me back uphill with a little practice and perseverance.
{mosimage}Then I discovered Trikke’s brand-new electric assisted ride—the Tribred. Introduced this summer by Trikke Tech, this vehicle is an engineering marvel, built with aircraft precision and technology. Trikke calls it the “game changer.” I immediately ordered the E-kit to retrofit my T8Air and could hardly wait to put it together. I hopped on and gave it a “go.” There was a huge difference in performance, giving me the ability to throttle up to master the small inclines and to go much farther than I had before.
The Tribred provides the perfect combination of exercise, recreation and commuter transportation, all in one. Able to travel 10-12 miles on a single charge and reach speeds up to 17 mph, it legitimately can be used as a commuter vehicle to and from work or school for about four cents a charge—a huge savings over gas guzzling cars and a lot more fun. You can throttle it, just carve, or throttle and carve the Tribred—it’s your choice. Using it regularly will give anyone a total body workout, help with weight loss and tone up major muscle groups in a short period of time. There’s very low impact on your joints and it gives you a real feeling of stability while you’re riding. The Tribred with the battery pack weighs about 52 pounds.
The Trikke is also the first super-portable personal transportation vehicle that folds flat to easily fit into my motorhome’s storage compartment or the trunk of my car. In just a few seconds, I’m on my way! It’s perfect for the active RV lifestyle to get around parks, resorts or campgrounds. On another note, I want to wish you all a very Happy Holiday season. If you’re going to be on the move, have safe travels. Most importantly, enjoy your friends and family and have lots of fun as we get ready to bring in the New Year. With 2009 just around the corner, we at RV Life are looking forward to a better, more prosperous year for one and all. Take good care of yourself and each other.
