The RV industry’s recovery from the recession will continue through 2013, according to a new forecast from Dr. Richard Curtin, director of consumer surveys at the University of Michigan.
Curtin, who makes market projections for the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, expects manufacturers to ship 289,900 RVs in 2013, which would be a 4.5 percent increase from 2012. Conventional and fifth-wheel trailers are expected to account for 86 percent of all RV shipments—which would be an all-time high market share. The forecast anticipates gains in shipments for Class A and B motorhomes, but declines in the market for Class C motorhomes and folding camping trailers.
