The RV industry is off to a good start this year, despite severe winter weather that hampered the ability to build and ship RVs. The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association reported that wholesale shipments of RVs in January were the highest since 2007. Shipments totaled 25,467 units and showed a 4.5 percent gain over the previous year. Much of the gain was in motorhomes, with towable RVs up only slightly.
Meanwhile, Dr. Richard Curtin, who makes shipment forecasts for the RVIA, is predicting that RV manufacturers will ship 339,600 units this year, an increase of 5.7 percent over 2013.
