The RV market is continuing to show strength in 2012, according to the latest figures from the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. The trade group reported that shipments of RVs from manufacturers in the first seven months of this year are nearly 10 percent ahead of the 2011 pace.
Shipments during the seven-month period reached 177,845 units. The gain has primarily been in towable RVs, with motorhome shipments essentially flat. However, Statistical Surveys, which tracks retail sales rather than shipments from manufacturers, reported that motorhome sales rose 4.2 percent in the first seven months of the year.
If present trends continue, RV manufacturers will have their best year since 2007.
