Wholesale shipments of RVs reached 71,400 units in the first quarter of this year, an increase of nearly 10 percent over the same period a year ago, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. Most of the growth is in towables, with motorhome shipments holding even.
The RVIA noted that RV manufacturers are moving to increase plant capacity to meet growing demand. CrossRoads RV, a unit of Thor Industries, broke ground in April for a 93,000-square-foot factory in Topeka, Indiana, to build its Cruiser product line, and Forest River recently bought a 135,000-square-foot facility and is building a new 100,000-square-foot plant.Research Campgrounds, Plan RV Safe Routes & Turn your phone into an RV GPS.
