Inter-Vac Design Corporation has developed a built-in RV vacuum cleaner that will avoid overloading the electrical circuits on RVs with 30-amp power. The new unit has a power management system that allows the RV owner to switch between the vacuum and another electrical device, such as the microwave or water heater, so that high electrical demand does not trip off the circuit breaker and cut power.
The new power management system for the RoadVac will be available to RV manufacturers this summer. Inter-Vac owners Peter and Susan Schlapkohl said the innovation is getting a good reception from manufacturers.
The Schlapkohls are hoping that manufacturers who have moved away from built-in vacuums to battery-powered vacuums will embrace the new system, which they contend makes better use of space in an RV and cleans better. The RoadVac is made in the U.S. by interVac Design Corporation, which is based in Palm City,
