Last week we scouted out an old mining camp in the California Desert called Clair Camp.
You have since noticed the Radcliffe Mine high on the mountainside to the Southwest of the camp. However, the topographical map doesn't show a road to the mine site, which means a long steep hike if you want to visit this site. This is a great time to compare what shows on the map against what is shown on Google Earth. Google Earth verifies what you will find on the ground, a picture never lies! After entering Radcliffe Mine on Google Earth, you notice a road to the mine coming from the east. Scrolling along the road quickly reveals a route from the camp to the mine site complete with GPS coordinates. Enjoy your adventure.
