Darryl Searer, president of the RV/MH Hall of Fame, has received the Spirit Award from the RV/MH Heritage Foundation for his work in raising funds to reduce the hall’s debt and give it financial stability.
The award was presented in August at the ceremony that inducted 10 new members into the Hall of Fame. Barry Cole, chairman of the RV/MH Heritage Foundation, lauded Searer for his work in saving the hall and its museum in Elkhart, Indiana. Searer volunteered two and a half years ago to lead the Hall of Fame without pay after financial difficulties threatened to close the museum, which has a collection of RVs dating back to 1913. Cole said, “Darryl has done a tremendous job reducing the hall’s debt and providing confidence to financial supporters.”
