The 14th annual AARP National Spelling Bee for people 50 and older will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Little America Hotel and Resort in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Participants will be given a written test and the top 15 entrants will advance to the oral spelling rounds to compete for $1,000 in gifts and prizes. Visitors may watch the competition and participate in a just-for-fun spelling bee at an opening reception Friday night at the Laramie County Library. Events in Cheyenne that Friday and Saturday will include horse-drawn carriage rides, a narrated historic trolley tour of the city, afternoon tea at the Nagle Warren Mansion, and free concerts.
