Taos Ski Valley has announced plans to install a chairlift this summer to provide access for the first time to Kachina Peak. With a summit at 12,450 feet, it will be one of the highest chairlifts in North America, and increase the resort’s advanced and expert lift-served terrain by 50 per cent.
Kachina Peak has been accessible only by hiking trails. Taos Ski Valley intends to preserve most of the current hiking terrain. The chairlift is expected to be in place for the 2014-15 ski season.
