Thor Industries, the world’s largest RV manufacturer, has reported sharply improved sales and says it expects the upward trend to continue through this year. RV sales for the latest quarter, ending January 31, were $335 million, up from $135 million a year ago.
The company said its RV order backlog hit $449 million, up from $175 million last year. Thor, which is also a major builder of buses, said its combined RV and bus sales amounted to $932 million for the first six months of its fiscal year, an 80 percent increase over the previous year.
Peter B. Orthwein, Thor chairman, president and CEO, said, “RV retail sales have been much improved so far this season, which leads us to anticipate continued performance gains throughout 2010.”
