The Washington state park system will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year, and has marked the occasion with publication of a wall calendar featuring historic photos and graphics.
The park system was established on March 19, 1913, and the photos show scenes from every decade since, including a 1919 public meeting and picnic to discuss Deception Pass becoming a state park, a family picnicking at Moran State Park in the 1920s, and a Civilian Conservation Crew helping the park system in the 1930s.
The large-format calendar sells for $18.50, with proceeds going to the state parks. It can be ordered online at myprint.wa.gov or by calling the state parks headquarters at (360) 902-8500. A link can be found at parks.wa.gov/specialoffers.
