With the New Year just hours away, most snowbirds have already migrated south for the winter. Some of the lucky RV-golfers will be teeing it up at the 9-hole executive course at Desert Palms Golf and RV Resort in Salome, Arizona. Sandwiched between the Harquahala and Harcuvar Mountain Ranges, Desert Palms is located on Highway 60 between Wickenburg and Quartzsite. The fertile valley is rich in agriculture and booming with growth, and the surrounding area offers old gold mines, lots of history, peace and solitude, along with scenic views, and wildlife.
The name Dick Wick Hall has permanence throughout the town of Salome. Hall, his equally famous frog, and the stick figure dancing Mrs. “Salome” Pratt have been fixtures for more than a century. Dick Wick Hall, co-founder of the town, once wrote that “Mrs. Salome Pratt took off her shoes and danced across the hot sand and burned her feet.” Thus, the town became “Salome – where she danced – Arizona.” Her picture can be seen on several buildings in town, along with that of the Salome Frog.
History aside, Desert Palms Golf and RV Resort offers 307 RV spaces, with large sites to accommodate any size RV, along with 30 and 50 amp service. In addition to golf, other amenities include a chlorine-free swimming pool and spa, direct public lands access, and a whole slew of recreational activities like pool, darts, bocce courts, and horse shoe pits.
In addition to plenty of RV spaces, Desert Palms also offers a variety of floor plans for park model manufactured homes. The double wides start at $39,477. For information on the manufactured homes, contact Guy Sarauer at 866-PALMSRV (725-6778).
Desert Palms Golf and RV Resort embodies the tranquility, beauty, and recreational freedom that Arizona is known. It’s easy to see why the resort has the following tag line: Getting here is easy, it’s leaving that’s hard. Find out for yourself.
